Press release Fibregy open-door industrial day 03.05. – 04.05.2023
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain
Fibregy, a European research project focused on the extensive use of fibre-reinforced plastics (FRP) materials in the structure of the next generation of large Offshore Wind and Tidal Power (OWTP) platforms, hosted an open-door industrial day in the Canary Islands in May in collaboration with the E-LASS network. The event was a resounding success and attracted participants from across Europe.
The first day was held at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The Attendees were treated to an exciting day of presentations on Fibregy’s research results as well as from the ELASS network. The presentations covered topics ranging from composite materials for wind and tidal power application to more general topic of lightweight application at sea.
On the second day of the event, participants had the opportunity to visit the Astican shipyard in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and see one of the W2Power towers, which were developed and manufactured in composite material in the Fibregy project. This was a highlight of the event and showcased Fibregy’s commitment to using sustainable materials in the production of its offshore energy applications.
The event was well-received by attendees and was praised for its informative presentations, engaging discussions, and opportunities for networking. Everyone was thrilled to have the chance to connect with like-minded individuals and showcase its groundbreaking research.
The Fibregy team is excited to continue its work providing composite material solutions for the offshore industry and is grateful for the support of the community. For more information on Fibregy and its mission, please visit www.fibregy.eu.
